Smart Save
Scans your folder for the highest existing file number and saves the document with the next available name.
Saving a new file version normally means opening the folder, finding the last used number, and typing the new filename by hand. Smart Save does this in one click. It scans your folder, detects your numbering pattern, and picks the next free number automatically.

Smart Save Guide
Every option in Smart Save explained.
The folder Smart Save scans to find the highest existing number. Starts with the active document's own folder.
- Use the dropdown to switch to a recently used folder.
- Click Browse to pick any folder on your system.
Type one example filename that follows your company numbering system. Smart Save splits it into groups and finds the file with the highest number that matches the same pattern.
- VT-0001-A
- 123-456.01
- A10.B06-000
Combine parts and assemblies. When checked, .sldprt and .sldasm files share the same number sequence. Useful when parts and assemblies are numbered together.
If no template is set, the default 0000-00 pattern is used.
Smart Save splits the template into groups and shows them one by one. Every group, whether numeric or alphabetical, starts as Fixed. The software does not assume any role. You decide the role of each group yourself by clicking on it.
Use + and - to adjust a value manually.
- New number.
Advances the Number group to the next free value. - New revision.
